A suite of curricula for undergraduate education and beyond.
On a range of politically adjacent topics commonly taught in universities, courses too often fail to examine issues from all sides. We want to make it easier for faculty across the country to teach courses on sensitive political and policy topics and incorporate readings and lectures that truly expand the minds of their students.
Step 1: Building Curriculum
We are in the process of developing materials in two areas: immigration policy and gender/sexuality. We are creating topic guides, suggested readings, and course curriculum. Over time, we will continue to add more topics.
Step 2: Testing Curriculum
We will be working with faculty at Tufts and at other schools who want to test out new ways of teaching politically sensitive material to ensure that the courses are neither stale nor trapped in ideological bubbles but rather deal effectively with ethical, legal, and empirical debates.
Step 3: Disseminating Curriculum
We will share our curriculum with faculty across the country and with the general public. The Center will convene teachers, distribute materials via publication partnerships, and provide online content to showcase how to teach and learn about challenging subjects.
